Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixer bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually beat in the flour mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop rounded tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Use room temperature butter for the best texture.
