- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes until soft and golden.
- Incorporate the ground beef, breaking it apart and cooking for 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, BBQ sauce, and mustard, cooking for a couple more minutes until well mixed.
- Place the frozen tater tots evenly over the beef mixture, cover the skillet, and cook for about 15 minutes.
- Remove the lid and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots, covering again for a few minutes to let the cheese melt.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a leaner option, use ground turkey. For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or plant-based meat.
