- 2 pounds ground beef
- 3.5 pounds chopped cabbage
- 29 ounces canned tomato sauce
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 28 ounces canned beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped cabbage, chopped onion, uncooked rice, and salt. Mix until just combined.
- Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for about 1 minute until softened, then drain.
- Place a portion of the filling on each cabbage leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly.
- Arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls in a baking dish.
- Pour tomato sauce and beef broth over the rolls, covering them well.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the rolls are tender.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils and mushrooms. Leftovers taste even better the next day!
