- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter for the glaze
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease your donut pan well.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, mix together melted butter, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
- Gently fold in the toasted pecans.
- Spoon the batter into each cavity of the donut pan, filling about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Melt unsalted butter for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled donuts, optionally adding extra chopped pecans on top.
Notes
For best results, avoid overmixing the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy. You can use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
