Description

A simple and comforting slow cooker dish featuring tender cube steak, savory onions, and earthy mushrooms, perfect for cozy family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 lb cube steak
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Season 2 pounds of cube steak with salt and pepper on both sides and sear each side in the hot skillet for about 4-5 minutes until browned.
  3. In the slow cooker, layer 1 large sliced onion and 8 ounces of sliced cremini mushrooms.
  4. Place the seared steak on top of the onions and mushrooms.
  5. In a bowl, mix 2 cups of beef broth with 1 packet of onion soup mix and pour over the steak.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours until the steak is very tender.
  7. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice and enjoy.

Notes

For gluten-free options, ensure your onion soup mix is certified gluten-free. For lower sodium, use low-sodium beef broth.
