- 2 lb cube steak
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Season 2 pounds of cube steak with salt and pepper on both sides and sear each side in the hot skillet for about 4-5 minutes until browned.
- In the slow cooker, layer 1 large sliced onion and 8 ounces of sliced cremini mushrooms.
- Place the seared steak on top of the onions and mushrooms.
- In a bowl, mix 2 cups of beef broth with 1 packet of onion soup mix and pour over the steak.
- Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours until the steak is very tender.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or rice and enjoy.

For gluten-free options, ensure your onion soup mix is certified gluten-free. For lower sodium, use low-sodium beef broth.
