Description

A delicious and comforting dish with crunchy taco shells and creamy cheese sauce, perfect for family gatherings or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Taco shells
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings (sour cream, salsa, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté it for about 3-4 minutes until it softens.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Slowly add milk, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens, about 4-5 minutes. Stir in shredded cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Fill taco shells with beef, drizzle with cheese sauce.
  6. Place filled taco shells in a dish and bake for 10 minutes until warmed and cheese is bubbly. Serve with optional toppings.

Notes

Great for adapting with different toppings. Can make gluten-free with corn taco shells and gluten-free flour.
