Description

A comforting casserole with layers of ground beef, creamy potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, sliced 1/8-inch thick
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef with onions and garlic until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced potatoes, cooked beef, milk, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. In a greased casserole dish, layer half the potato mixture, then spread half the cream of mushroom soup on top.
  5. Add the remaining potato mixture and top with the remaining soup.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Freshly grated cheese melts better than pre-shredded cheese. Let the casserole cool before slicing for easier serving.
