- 6 cups chicken broth
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- In a large pot, add the chicken, chicken broth, diced carrots, diced celery, and chopped onion. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Remove chicken from the pot and shred it once cooled. Return shredded chicken to the pot.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Add milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling batter into the simmering broth. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until dumplings are fluffy and cooked through.
- Ladle chicken and dumplings into bowls and serve hot.
Notes
For added flavor, stir in fresh herbs like thyme or parsley. Adjust the broth’s salt and pepper before serving.
