Description

A comforting casserole made with layers of ground beef, creamy Yukon gold potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners or cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced (1/8-inch rounds)
  • 1.5 lbs lean ground beef
  • 2 cups Colby Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Grease a baking dish with butter or oil.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the dish, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  6. Pour cream over the top layer.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
